Spring Break in Spain & Portugal!

Spring break was absolutely amazing–maybe the highlight of my experience so far.  I had never really considered travelling to Spain; I gave up on Spanish back in high school and I always imagined Italy as my first-choice European destination.  I remember in high school I had the chance to go to Spain over spring break on a school trip and just wasn’t interested… I have friends who spent amazing semesters abroad there, but I still just wasn’t feeling any particular draw to Spain.  When my NYU Prague friends suggested Spain and Portugal for spring break, I was slightly disappointed but obliged purely […]

Berlin and Vienna

Wow, its been a crazy few weeks!  Maybe you can tell from the gap in my posts that I’ve been really busy lately–making plans, traveling, keeping up with classes, and working on midterms truly took over my life.  Since I last posted I’ve traveled to Berlin, Germany and Vienna, Austria. Berlin Berlin was our first attempt at planning a trip on our own, and, all things considered, I think we did a pretty good job!  We spent a lot of time researching the best/cheapest travel and lodging options and ended up on a comfortable bus and in a nice hostel. […]

A Trip to Český Krumlov

On my first trip outside of Prague I went to visit Český Krumlov–a small city in the Southern Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, famous for its charm and beautiful medieval architecture.  The trip was sponsored by my program, so transportation and lodging were both free.  I was really excited to go because many people had told me about the city when they had heard I’d be studying in the Czech Republic.  The trip was really nice and it was interesting to see a city so different from Prague.  It makes sense; Prague is the capital and the largest city in […]

Prague-ress Report

I have officially been in Prague for 2 weeks!  It’s amazing how fast it’s gone by, but also how long I feel like I have been here.  I’m already so comfortable in this city.  I never could have imagined I’d be able to navigate my way through Prague, public transportation and all, in just a couple of weeks—but I can!  Actually, that’s more of a testament to Prague than it is to me; the metro and the tram here are always on time and are fairly easy to understand.  The streets can be windy and confusing in some areas, but […]

Blogging from the Sky!

Finally on my way to Prague! I’m five hours into my first flight, which will land in Frankfurt, Germany.  Then I’ve got a short layover and will be in Prague around 9:30 AM (3:30 AM in the U.S.).  The travel experience has actually been great so far.  My bags were, amazingly, under the weight limit; my flight came in just on time. I’m in a relatively comfy seat with a personal TV and an empty seat beside me.  Five hours went by faster than expected, but that’s thanks to Lufthansa’s solid selection of shows to watch… “Sex and the City,” […]

Less than a Week to Go!

Hi everyone! My name is Ally Kebba and I’ll be studying abroad in Prague this semester!  A little about me: I stay pretty busy at Bucknell as an English-Film/Media Studies major, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, a representative for BSG, and a peer consultant at the Writing Center, among other things. I love Bucknell so much, and I’m so comfortable there that it’s hard to believe I decided to leave!  But, do a quick Google image search of “Prague” and you’ll immediately understand why I did.  I leave in less than a week–four days to be exact–and to […]
