King Arthur and the Golden Cap

It’s the last full week of classes before summer. And it is pure chaos. Final papers, final exams, final days in London…you can imagine the whirlwind that we’re caught up in over here. But I’m going to leave my sad departure from London for my next post because I am simply not ready to deal with it. Instead, I have some pictures from my Host UK weekend. So, essentially, I went to stay with a host family in Somerset county in England, and they were amazing! They took me to so many incredible sights and cooked me some really delicious […]

Sparkling Towers, Old Churches, and lots and lots of Flowers

I know I haven’t posted in awhile, but I come bearing pictures from Paris. Giverny–the location of Monet’s house and gardens–was absolutely gorgeous. The flowers were in bloom, and the Japanese water lily garden was even more beautiful than in the paintings. Versailles was amazing, and the Hall of Mirrors was everything that I thought it would be. But, Paris itself was incredible. We only had 12 hours or so to see all the major sights so Sunday was pretty crazy, but we ended up getting to everything I wanted to visit. One of my favorite stops of the day […]

It’s Diagon Alley (For Real Though)

So, as you guys know, one of my best friends from home came to visit me in London this past weekend. She’s studying in Paris for the semester, so the trek wasn’t too far for her, but it was a crazy few days nonetheless. We rode the London Eye and got some amazing views of the city at sunset and at night. We had delicious afternoon tea at The Lanesborough–surprisingly filling and very yummy. We went to an Easter Service at Westminster Abbey, which was AMAZING. The music and the inside of the Abbey were breathtaking. But, most importantly (and […]

“When in Brighton” and Roman Escapades

So, you know those weeks where you can sit down at the end of it and remember only brief glimpses because the preceding days were completely crazy and sleep-deprived. You know what I’m talking about…the weeks where every class decides its time for a major project/presentation/paper, and you’ve started none because your family decided to visit that weekend or it was your friend’s birthday weekend, so you took a trip to New York City. Now take that craziness and multiply it by a million, and that’s approximately how chaotic that week feels. Yeah…well, this was one of those weeks. Crazy […]

Nessie-Hunting, Mountain-Climbing, and…oh, yeah, Poptarts

Here’s my Edinburgh post as promised! Kelli and I took a sleeper train into the city Tuesday night, and arrived at Edinburgh Waverly at 7am Wednesday morning. Being children of spontaneity, we had traveled into the city with only backpacks (mostly full of food) and unknown sleeping arrangements. However, it was colder than expected and we found this incredibly fun hostel located on the Royal Mile (the Market Street of Edinburgh). Unfortunately, we couldn’t check in until 2pm so we killed several hours walking all the way to the North Sea, up Calton Hill, and around the city center. Once […]

The London Calm before the Edinburgh Storm…

Hey guys! So spring break is over and classes have begun again. I still have some midterms to deal with in the next week or so, but I also have ROME coming up this weekend, which I am beyond excited for! Spring break was incredibly relaxing. My flatmates and I hung out in London for most of break, and then Kelli and I traveled to Edinburgh for three days. The trip was AMAZING. Our days were so packed that I still haven’t quite recovered from them. Since I’m going to be doing an Edinburgh post soon, I’ll keep this one […]

Midterms. Are. Here.

Hey everyone! I am SO sorry for the delay in posts. And I know it’s not the most original excuse, but midterms have been hovering over our program for the last few weeks. Classes have been kind of hectic as papers, projects, and presentations have been happening bi-weekly. However, there have been a few highlights: we went to the National Portrait Gallery in my documentary class yesterday, and we saw an awesome Grayson Perry exhibit at the British Museum for my art class. We also went to the British Film Institute for my film class, and heard surround sound in a […]

From the Year of the Dragon to a Snowy London Night

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay in posting, but I’ve finally gathered enough photos to warrant another blog post. Starting with a trip to Trafalgar Square to celebrate the Year of the Dragon and ending with a makeshift photo shoot on the snowy London street all while tossing in a few academic excursions to see the Rosetta Stone and a World War II aircraft, this week has been nothing if not memorable. As for the highlight of the week–well, it’s a tie I’d say between booking a trip to Rome (be prepared for a picture overload!) and having an awesome […]

That time I went to Diagon Alley and a few other places…

Hey guys! I’m back, and I’ve brought pictures this time. This past week has been crazy! With the start of classes and all the sight-seeing we’ve been doing, this week flew by and I can only imagine how quickly this semester will pass. But rather than try to describe all the places that I went (my words couldn’t do them justice), I’m going to just post a ton of pictures with captions. Enjoy!

Landing in London!

Hi everyone! I’m Caitlin, and I’m studying in London this semester with the Bucknell in London program. My majors are English with a Film Concentration & Psychology, and I’ve wanted to study in London since I was a kid! Fortunately, this semester’s program is film based so a lot of my classes are studying British film and art, which I’m really looking forward to. I just arrived at my flat on Saturday (suffering from serious jet lag), and I figured that it was time for me to write my first blog post. After fitting my life into a single suitcase […]
