As my time in Dublin was winding down I decided to spend the rest of my time in Dublin until my last week in April when I had 2 weeks off before finals. Before hitting the books I decided to give myself a nice relaxing vacation with my new bffl Nolan on a Greek Island named Kos. We planned our relaxing beach filled vacation for a week in which we explored the small island, got lots of sun and beach time, ate delicious greek food, and got to know some of the locals, OPA! The only negative thing about Kos [...]

My Mom and Sandy come to Dublin!
After a fun filled trip to Hacketstown I was excited to get back to Dublin where I would be staying for the next few weeks after a semester of traveling all over each weekend. I was especially anxious to get back to Dublin because my Mom was coming to visit that week. Not seeing each other for 3 months was extremely weird since even at College I see her almost every 2 weeks. She was coming to visit with her best friend Sandy who I was also so excited to see since she is like a second Mom to me [...]

Berlin and St. Patrick’s day in Dublin, doesn’t get much better!
After a very exciting, yet relaxing week in Italy my spring break was only half way over with another week of fun! My brother and friend from home decided to visit for the week and we had all agreed that Germany would be a great place to visit for a few days. I was not sure what to expect from Berlin and I really did not know much about it. The city was so different from what I was just experiencing in Italy because it was so modern and new. Everything was extremely clean and the streets were big unlike in Ireland. We walked [...]

Spring break in Italy: Florence, Cortona and Rome = Food coma!
As my two-week spring break approached, I was in disbelief at where the time had went and how I was about halfway through my study abroad experience but so excited to spend my next few weeks traveling non-stop with my first week in amazing Italy. My friend Michelle and I decided the first place we would visit was Florence since we were flying into nearby Pisa. When we flew in we first went to see the famous leaning tower of Pisa and grab some lunch, which of course was delicious. We caught the train from Pisa to Florence and was [...]

Northern Ireland – Exploring Belfast and the Giant’s Causeway
When I decided to study in Dublin, I knew I wanted to travel a lot especially around Ireland but I was not sure if I wanted to travel north after hearing about some of the issues there and its past history. However, my study abroad program decided to organize a trip to Belfast and to see the Giant’s Causeway which I really wanted to see. So, I decided to sign up. The bus ride was not too bad and we got to Belfast in two hours, making me realize how truly small Ireland is. Before we got off the bus [...]

Amsterdam and turning 21 in PARIS!
I have always heard crazy things about Amsterdam and been advised specifically by my Mother to never go there. So, of course, when a few friends from school were planning a trip I said, “Count me in!” We had a very short flight over only about an hour and a half on a lovely airline called Aerlingus which I stress due to my strong dislike for Ryan Air which I will revisit later. We landed and took a short train into the city of Amsterdam which was lit up with lots of shops, buildings, bars and “coffee shops.” It was [...]

London London London!
We landed in London Gatwick airport late at night and took the train into the center of the city to our Hostel. When we went to check in, however, we found we were not in the greatest area and the hostel was not very nice, to say the least. The signs labeled “Warning do not drink the water” were just a small indicator that maybe we should find another place to stay. After a phone call home to my brother, he booked us a better place to stay which we hiked about five miles to at 6 a.m. so we [...]

Kissing the Blarney Stone!!!
This past weekend some friends and I hopped on a bus and headed down to Cork, which is in the Southern part of Ireland. After 4.5 long hours we finally made it to our hostel and went out sightseeing. Cork was much more of a city then I expected. Smaller then Dublin, but still very busy and built up. We headed out for the night to compare the night life of Cork to Dublin, and although it definitely held its own, I can honestly say that Dublin is the winner. The next day, we headed to Blarney, which is only about a [...]

Exploring the city and a visit to the countryside
As classes began last Monday, things were hectic figuring out the campus as well as finding my new classes and getting organized. Since school is outside of Dublin City Center, getting into the City is more difficult than I had anticipated with confusing bus schedules and crazy taxi drivers. Needless to say, my friends and I found time to still venture in and spent a full day on a tour bus trying to see the tourist attractions of the City so we could branch out rather then just seeing the inside of a pub (not that I have an issue with that!). [...]
