While I’ve had the opportunity to travel to the Dead Sea, kick back on beaches in Aqaba, ski down mountains in Lebanon, and more recently visit the Blue Mosque in Turkey–my most meaningful observations have come from spending time at the University of Jordan. Adhan Alarm

Ahlan was Sahlan from Amman! My first week here has called for some interesting adjustments, first and foremost, my daily wakeup call. While I expected to hear my iPhone’s best rendition of a fire alarm the first morning of orientation, I was greeted by a much more appealing and melodic noise.  As the sun was rising over Amman’s seven hills at 5 o’clock in the morning, the call to prayer echoed throughout the city. Jordan in 2013

While classes resume in Lewisburg tomorrow morning, I will be throwing together the last items on my packing checklist in preparation for my departure to Amman, Jordan, this coming Friday. As an international relations major with a concentration in the Middle East, my options for studying abroad were rather limited. But after several discussions with my study abroad adviser I decided on Jordan.
